French Immersion, Extended French Grades 3-12


All our tutors of academic subjects are experienced and certified with the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT).

Our lessons feature original, interesting learning activities that help your child feel more confident when speaking or writing in French. Our emphasis on French culture will bring your child to love learning French!

We will provide help doing homework, completing assignments and preparing for tests. As a result, you child will improve in self-confidence at school and get higher grades in their French Immersion or Extended French program.


Tutoring

French - Small group tutoring

Bonjour!

The ability to speak French creates countless opportunities. As French Immersion and Extended French classes continue to grow, our experienced tutors are ready to help your child thrive in their program.

Language must be learned through culture. We use music, story, food and drink to inspire and motivate your child to learn French.

Your child will:

  • Receive support completing homework and assignments
  • Feel more comfortable speaking and writing French

Semi-private lessons (2:1 student - teacher ratio) allow for personal attention at a reasonable cost.

Math in French or English

A strong foundation in math – including basic concepts and computational skills -- is an essential in today’s changing world.

Following an individualized program, your child will:

  • Develop skills and confidence
  • Master new concepts using visuals and hands-on tools
  • Apply math knowledge to real-life situations
  • Develop strategies for EQAO testing in Grades 3, 6 and 9
  • Use appropriate vocabulary to express math concepts in French

Available in private or semi-private lessons (2:1).

Reading

Reading is essential life skill that unleashes learning in all other areas. Using a variety of teaching techniques, our Reading tutors will bring your child to become more effective readers and develop a love of reading!

Your child will:

  • Learn to use effective reading strategies
  • Explore a variety of text types and genres
  • Practice reading out loud

Available in private or semi-private lessons (2:1). Reading lessons can be combined with the Writing for Media program on an alternating basis.

Writing for Media

Children are more likely to produce better written work when they are writing for an audience. In the Writing for Media class, your child will:

  • Explore personal interests and talents
  • Practice writing conventions (spelling, paragraph structure, grammar) as required
  • Publish an original printed and̸ or on-line media product (newspaper, blog, podcast)

Available in small group lessons (4:1). This program can be combined with Reading lessons on an alternating basis.

English as a Second Language (ESL)

Welcome!
Newcomers to Canada are welcome to bring their child to The Study for ESL support.

With our ESL qualified teacher, your child will:

  • Engage in friendly speaking activities
  • Read age-appropriate materials
  • Practice writing original texts

This program is only offered in small group lessons (4 students).

Special Programs

Homework Help

Assistance offered for all homework assignments in French, including reading comprehension, grammar, writing or research projects.

This program will take place every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 5:00 - 7:00 pm with a maximum of 10 students.

Chess (Grades 4+)

This centuries-old game requires strategy, skill, memory and patience. It has a beneficial impact on the ability to focus and learn in all areas.

Your child will:

  • Learn to play or advance in level
  • Meet new friends in a relaxed environment
  • Compete in a final competition

Available in small group lessons (5-8 students).

Coding (Grades 5+)

This program will open a door to the future by introducing your child to the world of coding.

Your child will:

  • Write commands in JavaScript
  • Navigate objects on a grid
  • Solve coding problems
  • Create simple programs

Available in small group lessons (5-8 students). Lessons will be offered based on age and ability grouping.
